The Legacy of Ile Ori Ogbe Egun
The journey of Ile Ori began in 1992 when Ifalade TaShia began formal training in Orisa spirituality. She went on to receive Ilekes and Warriors from Iya Theresa Fair under the guidance and supervision of Angel Lebron, Elder from the House of Pimienta (Havana, Cuba)
1997-Ifalade TaShia received Ifa divination from Awo Fasina Falade marking her as a child of Yemoja. During that same year, she also received divination from Awo Falokun Fatunmbi confirming her as a daughter of both waters, Yemoja and Oshun, and confirming her path in the Ifa tradition
1998-IfaladeTaShia receives advanced Ifa counsel from the late, great Awo Ade Olayinka (Ibae T'Orun) again marking her as a daughter of two waters, Oshun & Yemoja, and confirming her path as a high priestess in the Ifa tradition through the odu Eji Ogbe
2000-After two years of study and divinatory counsel, Ifalade TaShia undergoes Isefa (Ifa) initiation with Oloye Ifa Karade, noted Babalawo and best-selling author of the Handbook of Yoruba Religious Concepts. She joins the priestly ranks of Oloye Karade’s temple, Ile Tawo Lona and begins a lengthy apprenticeship
2001-Ifalade TaShia undergoes Odu Orisa initiation and after one year of priestly reflection is presented to the community officially as an Olorisha Yemoja
2001-Upon return from the culmination of her priestly journey, Ifalade TaShia Asanti, under the guidance of Oloye Ifa Karade, founds Ile Ori Ogbe Egun: Temple of the Enlightened Path
2001-From the tree of Ile Ori, the National Institute for Indigenous Cultural Studies is created with the intention to unite members of diverse branches of Ifa and other indigenous religious and spiritual communities. The Institute organized presentations by dynamic speakers from the Orisa community such as Oloye Ifa Karade, Awo Afolabi Epega Jr.(Ibae T'Orun), Iya Oyafunmike Ogunlano, Iyalorixa Mae Val from Salvador, De Bahia, Iya Valdina Pinto from Salvador De Bahia, HRM Oloye Aina Olomo, Awo Ifasola Odunade, Iyanifa Osun Monife and many, many others.
2002-2006-Following the orders of her Italogun, Ifalade completes the reception of 14 additional tutelary initiations to various Orisha.
2003-Ile Ori organizes and produces the first International Ifa Conference attracting more than 150 participants from 26 U.S. Cities and 2 Countries.
2003-Ifalade is approved to work independently as an Iyalocha by her officiating Elder
2004-Ifalade contacted by producers of a major cable TV network to appear on TV as an Orisa priestess. After divination by her officiating Elder, Ifalade proceeds in becoming the first Yoruba priestess to appear on a primetime TV show.
2004-After a lengthy interview, Ifalade is listed in the New York Times as being a, "Priestess with a good head on her shoulders."
2004-Ifalade is presented to the drums. Ceremony is officiated by Awo Ifasola Odunade, Oriate, Bata Player and Singer for the Orisa.
2005-Ile Ori membership numbers give it the spiritual right to form an official "Rama," or spiritual lineage. The Ogunda-Ajake lineage is born under the odu, Irete Meji, with the support of local and national Elders in the Ifa tradition.
2006-Following divinatory guidance, Ifalade travels to Atlanta, Georgia to undergo Itefa initiation. She spends 7 incredible days with the late, great Chief Kofi Zannu Medahochi (Ibae T'Orun), Ajubona Iyanifa Ifalola Omobola and mat brother, Awo Ifalowo.
2007-Baba Sangotade is inducted as Chief Priest of Ile Ori Ogbe Egun in lieu of his dedicated service. He continues to serve at Ifalade's side as co-leader of Ile Ori.
2007-Ifalade and her student Iya Fasina Adelaja travel to New York for Ifalade's presentation at the African Spirituality Conference at Columbia University. Ifalade's essay, "Living with Dual Spirits," is selected for publication alongside Dr. Wade Nobles, Dr. Malidoma Some and other spiritual and cultural icons. Presenters of the conference include epic leaders in African Spirituality such as Ra Un Nefer Amen, Dr. Henry Frank, Dr. Ben and other luminaries.
2008-Ifalade produces the World Pride & Power Conference with keynote speaker Dr. Malidoma Some who conducts a healing ritual to restore Trans Gatekeepers to their rightful place in society.
2009-Ifalade takes a long-needed sabbatical to do healing work for herself and her ancestors after the loss of her beloved mother in 2008. She makes a pilgrimage to Illinois to pour libation at the grave site of her ancestors.
2010-Ile Ori undergoes a, "Visioning Process," to reflect on its organizational progress and map out the continued development and growth of the Ile.
2011 Ile Ori votes to add the name, “I-TEACH Love Institute,” to its title and announces a new organizational structure.
2012 Ile Ori expands its main temple in Colorado to California, North Carolina, Detroit and New York.
2012 Iya Oyaseeke Adeloni is named Apetabi of Iyanifa Ifalade and Iya Onisangode is named Executive Advisor.
2012 Iyanifa Senakhu is named Presiding Priestess of Ile Ori Denver.
2013 Ile Ori inducts its first international member in London, England.
2014 Ile Ori enstools Olorisha Sangodare Akinwale as the Asare Pawo of Ile Ori
2015 Ile Ori adopts the Wheel of Spiritual Development and officially launches the Ifa Master Studies Program.
2016 Awo Ifadunsin Sangobeyi is appointed Presiding Priest of the Oakland branch of Ile Ori.
2017 Awo Ifadounsin named a King (Oba) of the Ile Ori Oakland Community.
2018 Iyanifa Ifalade retires from doing Odu Orisa ceremonies after 141 initiations (and returns in 2022).
2018 Ile Ori inducts its first members in West Germany and London, England.
2019 Ile Ori places flag in Boulder, Colorado and officiates Iyalosa Olori as Presiding Priestess in Training
2021 Ile Ori places flag for new temple in Louisville, Kentucky
2022 Ile Ori reaches 187 Initiates and completes Odu Orisha Ceremony in Boulder, Colorado
2023 Ile Ori Founder receives the title, "Adeloye," presented by Awo Ifadunsin
2024 Ile Ori completes Odu Orisha ceremony in Yucca Valley, California and reaches 192 Initiated Priests
